We are committed to gospel proclamation
We proclaim the gospel of our Sovereign Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is the primary ministry of the church.

Everything we do from private to corporate worship, from Sunday School to age-graded ministries, and from local outreach to international missions…everything we do is about giving witness to the Good News of the Gospel. In this sense, the Church is the display of the Gospel, the person and work of Jesus in His life, death, and resurrection.
We are committed to healthy local church life
We believe that the local church should be an intentional and balanced life together. We believe in the balance of being “Elder Led,” “Deacon Served,” and “Member Empowered.”

We believe this vision arises from the New Testament and is consistent with historic Baptist polity. The local church should be led by a team of qualified male elders/pastors who oversee and attend to the spiritual needs of the church. Deacons are ministers from among the congregation who assist the elders in ministry to the church by being lead servants in the church. Meaningful membership rooted in Christ-centered covenant with one another fuels the mission of the church.
We are committed to being biblically rooted in everything
We submit to the Bible as our final authority in matters of life, faith, and doctrine.

As such, we place a value on the regular exposition of the Scriptures as the center of church life at Emmanuel. This means that our corporate worship is built around the Scriptures. We sing the Scriptures. We pray the Scriptures. We confess the Scriptures. We preach/teach the Scriptures. Additionally, all of our formal programs as a church are Scripture-centered.
We are committed to regulative worship
How God’s people worship is one of, if not THE most important distinctive of the Church.

We are concerned less with musical style than we are about how God commands His people to worship in the Scriptures. This means that we seek to only incorporate elements that are expressly commanded in the Scriptures and seek to be careful not to add unnecessary nor unbiblical elements to our corporate worship. In other words, we are ordinarily ordinary in our corporate worship. We are more interested in the people of God worshiping God appropriately through word, prayer, and song than to attract and gather a big crowd on Sunday morning.
At Emmanuel, we focus on a few fundamentals: We preach, teach, read, and sing God’s Word. We pray over and with the congregation. We share in the Ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism each week. We sing Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual songs.
We are committed to healthy mutuality & complementarity among men & women in the church
Both men and women are together created in the divine image and are therefore equal before God as persons, possessing the same moral dignity and value, and have equal access to God through faith in Christ.

Men and women are together the recipients of spiritual gifts designed to empower them for ministry in the local church and beyond. Therefore, both men and women are to be encouraged, equipped, and empowered to utilize their gifting in ministry, in service to the body of Christ, and through teaching in ways that are consistent with the Word of God.
Both husbands and wives are responsible to God for spiritual nurture and vitality in the home, but God has given the husband to be a spiritual servant as he leads his wife and family with sacrificial love characterized by Jesus Christ. This principle of male headship should not be confused with, nor give any hint of, domineering control. Rather, it is to be the loving, tender, and nurturing care of a godly man who is himself under the kind and gentle authority of Jesus Christ.
The Elders/Pastors of each local church have been granted authority under the headship of Jesus Christ to provide oversight and to teach/preach the Word of God in corporate assembly for the building up of the body. The office of Elder/Pastor is reserved for biblically qualified men. Beyond this, we desire for women to serve in any way possible for the edification of the church and propagation of the Gospel. For that reason, our diaconal ministry is served by both men and women who assist the elders/pastors in the daily ministry of the church.
We are confessional & connectional baptists
As Baptists, we believe that the final governance of a church lies within the membership and appointed leaders of each local church.

As important as this is to Baptist life, it can create local church silos that isolate ministry apart from the global church. Emmanuel Baptist Church believes that cooperation and partnership between like-minded local churches is vital in advancing the Gospel. Therefore, we cooperate with doctrinally like-minded local, state, and national Southern Baptist Churches as well as International Baptists to fulfill the Great Commission. We believe we can do more together than we can separately.
Additionally, being Baptist also means being committed to historically sound doctrine that has been passed down faithfully through church history. As such, we affirm the great confessions of the Baptist tradition, which are broadly outlined in the New Hampshire Confession, 1853, and the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 confessions.
We are kingdom minded
The Church is the display of the Gospel to the world. Therefore, we believe the most faithful witness and missionary activity that produces kingdom multiplication comes through planting, revitalization, and replanting local churches.

As we prioritize our outreach and mission efforts, we desire to see it spring from local churches as well as advance that church further into their local communities.
